Facility Preview: Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 9AM-12PM Contact auctioneer's office at 207-885-5100 to schedule an appointment. A tour of the facility will begin from the Administration building. Attendees will be asked to park at the admin parking lot and sign in at the office. A hard hat and safety glasses will be provided. Attendee must wear industrial grade work boots/shoes (no open shoes will be allowed). Attendees will be required to sign an indemnification agreement before touring the facility.
The PERC Plant consist of a 12-building industrial complex containing 188,936+/-SF. The facility operates as a 25.30-Megawatt power plant with an automated front-end waste processing system. It was constructed between 1988 and 1996 with updates and was completed to service the municipal solid waste needs of communities in eastern, central, and mid-coast Maine.
The plant is currently operating and uses an automated solid waste processing system that has (2) Terminators which shred and size all of its waste, and then automatically feed this waste into the incinerators to fuel the power generation system.
The complex is sited on 43.87+/- acres and it has extensive frontage on Industrial Way with secondary frontage on River Road. The parcel is generally level and is located in the Genera Industrial "I" Zone. The parcel can be referenced on the Town of Orrington tax maps as Map 5, Lot 67C.
Terms: A $50,000 deposit (nonrefundable as to highest bidder) in CASH or CERTIFIED U.S. FUNDS, made payable to the Keenan Auction Co., Inc. (deposited with the Auctioneer as a qualification to bid) with balance due and payable within 7 calendar days from date of auction. Integrated Solid Waste Processing, Pollution Control, and Power Generation Equipment
Loading, Sorting and Reclaiming Process
Integrated Conveying and Screening Line comprised of a unloading bin, (1) electric in-feed metal pan conveyor and (1) hydraulic in-feed metal pan conveyor, sheer shredder, Spaleck 26' 9 .8 ' Single Deck Waste Recycling Screen, belt magnets, all integrated through multiple belt conveyors of varying lengths and elevation angles. Includes staircase and access platforms to allow access to various areas of the line. Powered by a dedicated Motor Control Center. Please note that several of the conveyor sections were previously installed within the (2) processing lines removed from the facility.
Power Generation Section
Boiler System comprised of (2) Boiler Screw System w/Feeders, (2) Fuel Distribution Chutes, (2) Riley Traveling Grate Stokers; (2) Boilers with refractory walls, Super heaters w/Tubes, Generation Bank w/ Feeder Tubes, Air Heater Tubes, Steam Drum , (3) Feed water Pumps, (1) Diesel Pump, Auxiliary Burners, (3) Heat Exchangers and Fans powered by a dedicated Motor Control Center. Note: A five-story structure was formed and erected around Boiler.
Condenser to transfer gases to GE Steam Turbine-Generator Unit configured with a 23,300 Kw (24Mw), 15 Stages, Steam Generator (Turbine Number 198039), 3600 RPM, 650 PSIG, 750 Degree with Exhaust Pressure of 2.0" HGA with Mark IIIE Electrohydraulic Controls; and a Air Cooled-Steam, 30,000 KVA Generator (Generator Number 316X682) and Farr 10x20x2 Air Filter . Unit powered by dedicated GE Motor Control Center. Originally installed in 1986 and (reportedly last overhauled in 2013). Foundation is designed for turbine and for facility. Unit currently subject to overhaul and total turbine rewind.
Pollution Control Equipment comprised of Spray Dryer Absorber, Rotary Atomizer and Baghouse with all Dedicated Duct Work and Motor Control Centers
Integrated Fire Suppression System installed throughout PERC including but not limited to sensors, diesel firewater pumps, valves, (10) Rizor Control Processors Firetrol Circuit Breakers and piping. Reportedly upgrade in 2005.
Flyash Handling/Processing System including but not limited to a ash conditioners, pug mill and scraper conveyors
Surveillance and Monitoring Control Equipment comprised of (39) Cameras placed throughout the facility, (4) Sony 52" HD Monitors, (4) Dell Monitors, (4) Dell Servers, Bailey Process Controllers, and (3) Video/DVR Servers
Cooling Tower comprised of integrated components including but not limited to drive shafts, fans, nozzles, vacuums, water level, instrumentation and piping. Design for facility.
Water Treatment/Reverse Osmosis System comprised of an O'Brien Reverse Osmosis Pump, Hach 5500SC SiO2 Silica Analyzer, Nova Electric Rectifier and Piping
